Romeo and Juliet opening analysis

in Baz lurhmans romeo and Juliet, the first scene uses many cinematography techniques to set the mood and introduce the setting and characters. after the first scene with the slow zoom into the TV there is a massive cut into fair Verona, this is then followed by multiple cuts and title cars introducing many characters, similar to that of a trailer. this scene is then followed by the introduction of the montagues and capulets. there are character cards showing who each character is. when the two enemies start interacting there are many quick cuts and snippets that are sped up, this is to add the feeling that there is a lot of tension going on. there is also a few close ups between quick camera flicks to add to the tension. these same techniques are used throughout the firefight.
